Touch-a-Truck for Autism Awareness

If you found your way to this blog, you most likely don’t need to be reminded that April is Autism Awareness Month. Many families and friends with a loved one on the spectrum experience Autism Awareness every month, but there is still something great to be said about the month of April. April reaches beyond those of us involved on a daily basis and shines a light on the 1 in 68. In April, this light shines so bright in hope that people who need the reminder see it.

One of our last reminders this month is our first ever Touch-a-Truck for Autism Awareness event taking place on Sunday, April 27th from 10am-12pm at 83 Pine Street in Peabody MA 01960.

We are excited to be hosting this family event and are looking forward to a fun morning. Children and their families will be able to view, touch and interact with the different trucks and vehicles. All sirens, horns, loud engines, etc. will be off during the main event in order to be more Sensory Friendly. At 12pm the sounds will go on for those children hoping to hear them.

In addition to the firetruck, police cruiser, police dive truck, ambulance, school bus, line truck and motorcycles some other organizations will be there showing their support and adding to the fun:

Treadwell’s Ice Cream
Jeanne’s Bakeshop
Roaming Railroad train rides

Special thanks to the Peabody Police and Fire Departments, Salem Police Department, Northeast Regional Ambulance, Peabody Public Schools Transportation, Peabody Municipal Light Plant and our amazing REC Staffers!
