Rec is expanding…AGAIN!

Here at the Rec we are passionate about providing a safe environment for kids with special needs. We take pride in knowing that we are one of the few centers in the area that can cater to children seven days a week.  Families take comfort in knowing that their child is in a safe and fun environment with experienced staff.  The Rec is a comprehensive program and resource for families with autism and related special needs. We customize programs to fit the needs of each student and follow the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

After the launch of our Peabody REC  we have been able to expand into New Hampshire with our Londonderry REC  almost three years ago. The Recreational Education Center is now proud to announce the launch of yet another center which will be located in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.  The center is scheduled to open in early September and will have a strong focus on adult services while also continuing our current programming for school aged kids.

The REC  is excited to grow and to continue to provide programming to bridge the gaps in services that individuals with special needs require. Be on the lookout for more information on our grand opening closer to September. For the most up to date information on the opening of our Chelmsford REC  continue to check back on our website or reach out to us at info@recreationaleducationcenter.com

4th Annual Touch-a-Truck

This past Sunday was our 4th Annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Peabody Rec Center with over 1000 people in attendance! The day could not have been any better with perfect weather and a great crowd!

Kids of all ages were able to experience what it was like to be inside firetrucks, race cars, ambulances and even tow trucks! There was plenty of food for guests to enjoy and lots of extra activities to do.  Kids were able to build their own bracelets, get their face painted and get their picture taken with McGruff the Crime Dog.

We want to thank all the organizations that came out. The event could not have been a success without them:

  • Peabody Fire Department
  • Peabody Police Department
  • Atlantic Ambulance
  • Cataldo Ambulance
  • Peabody Transportation School Bus
  • Whoopie Wagon
  • Cod Squad
  • Trolley Dogs
  • Todisco Towing
  • JC Landscaping
  • Peabody Public Works
  • Somerville Public Works
  • D. Beatrice Racecar
  • Stephan Hosker Racecar
  • Mill City Towing
  • Roaming Railroad
  • Aspire Early Intervention
  • Allergy & Asthma Awareness Initiative of Peabody
  • Giovanna Forsley Face Painting
  • Mrs. Eleni
  • Fred Moreau Sand Art

We also would like to give a HUGE thank you to the Recs Program Coordinator, Reagan Cassidy who organized the entire event this year.  THANK YOU REAGAN!
