Now Enrolling for Camp REC!

The REC’s customized ABA programs don’t end with the school year! Did you know that we offer an extensive summer program at Camp REC from June 13th through September 2nd? Families can choose the days, weeks and times!

What is Camp REC?
Camp REC is an individualized summer program that combines fun and learning through ABA methodology while students work and play their way through the day at the center. The days are structured with various activities from cooking, crafting, indoor gym play, board games and puzzles. Older kids have their own space in the Teen Center and the vast outdoor space is great for sport games, water fun, sidewalk chalk and much more!

Furthermore, our creative Program Coordinators develop weekly themes such as Down on the Farm or Rainforest Ruckus so make sure you enroll soon to book your favorite week(s)!

How do I enroll my child?
If you are new to the REC, you will need to complete the intake packet which includes assessment documents, insurance information, release forms and registration details. Contact us today for a complete intake packet by emailing info@recreationaleducationcenter.com or by calling one of our 2 locations.

If your child already attends the REC and has completed the intake, you only need to complete the Camp REC registration form which includes the requested schedule and other pertinent information for the summer program. See the link below for the Camp REC brochure and registration.

How long does the intake process take?
Depending on the time of year, the intake process may take anywhere from 20-40 days in order to confirm insurance, review assessment forms and schedule the evaluation. Once the evaluation is complete, one of our BCBAs will complete the treatment plan for insurance approval.

My insurance doesn’t cover ABA. Do you accept private pay?
Yes, but the cost varies based on the needed staff to student ratio. Please contact info@recreationaleducationcenter.com for more information on private pay.

My child is enrolled. Now what?
Stay tuned for our Camp REC Orientation in early June! More details to come. See you this summer!

Measuring ABA in the Classroom

Save the date for our next Parent Workshop on Wednesday, January 29th at 6PM! Presenter Dr. Michael Dorsey, Ph.D, BCBA-D, will be discussing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the classroom and how to measure its use.

Dr. Dorsey is a Professor of Education and Director of the Institute for Behavioral Studies at Endicott College. His experience with implementing ABA practices led him to author various publications including those assisting in the initial development of the Functional Behavior Analysis. (To read more about Dr. Dorsey please click here).

This free event is part of the REC’s Parent Workshop Series. Please click here for the official flyer and RSVP to info@recreationaleducationcenter.com so we may plan for refreshments. See you there!

We understand that it may be difficult to find child care during our workshops, but we would not want anyone to miss out on the valuable information provided! Therefore, parents are welcome to bring children as long as they are supervised.

Insurance Workshop

What a Week!

REC Staffers had a blast prepping and participating in two great events this week. The first event was our FREE Parent Workshop on Autism and Insurance. We had a great group of parents and the presenters, Amy Weinstock and Terri Farrell from the Massachusetts Autism Insurance Resource Center, shared great information. We learned a ton about ARICA and even received some great insider tips and details about upcoming changes due to the Affordable Care Act. Parents even walked away with customized cupcakes to bring home, along with other yummy treats! If you missed the Workshop, please feel free to contact the Insurance Resource Center directly: info@disabilityinfo.org or (781) 642-0248.

Did you attend the Walk Now For Autism Speaks event this past Sunday, October 6th? The REC was in attendance and we were hard to miss at the resource fair! Chances are you either saw one of our green balloons floating around or our green sweatshirts keeping attendees warm post-walk. Additionally, REC Staffers had a blast giving out prizes to families that participated in REC Plinko! For more information on the walk please visit http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org.

Below are some picture highlights from the events. Check out our calendar to see what is happening next!
