4th Annual Touch-a-Truck

This past Sunday was our 4th Annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Peabody Rec Center with over 1000 people in attendance! The day could not have been any better with perfect weather and a great crowd!

Kids of all ages were able to experience what it was like to be inside firetrucks, race cars, ambulances and even tow trucks! There was plenty of food for guests to enjoy and lots of extra activities to do.  Kids were able to build their own bracelets, get their face painted and get their picture taken with McGruff the Crime Dog.

We want to thank all the organizations that came out. The event could not have been a success without them:

  • Peabody Fire Department
  • Peabody Police Department
  • Atlantic Ambulance
  • Cataldo Ambulance
  • Peabody Transportation School Bus
  • Whoopie Wagon
  • Cod Squad
  • Trolley Dogs
  • Todisco Towing
  • JC Landscaping
  • Peabody Public Works
  • Somerville Public Works
  • D. Beatrice Racecar
  • Stephan Hosker Racecar
  • Mill City Towing
  • Roaming Railroad
  • Aspire Early Intervention
  • Allergy & Asthma Awareness Initiative of Peabody
  • Giovanna Forsley Face Painting
  • Mrs. Eleni
  • Fred Moreau Sand Art

We also would like to give a HUGE thank you to the Recs Program Coordinator, Reagan Cassidy who organized the entire event this year.  THANK YOU REAGAN!

ABA Expansion

The Recreational Education Center’s first location in Peabody, MA has seen many changes since opening the doors in 2011. What began as just an idea, has grown into a one of kind ABA therapy center. With a strong focus on each individual child and teen, the center is ever changing to create appropriate support for the programming. It seems like just yesterday we were breaking down walls to build the much needed Teen Center so how could we possibly need more space?!

Here we grow again! We are excited to share the news of our latest project currently underway. The newest expansion includes additional space for Early Learners, Teens and even REC Staffers! With an extra 3,000 square feet of new space we are adding new centers, life skills sections and more. Staffers will also have a designated space for case work and breaks. Take a look at the latest expansion space pictures:

Birthday Party Fun!

Each and every time we host a birthday party at the REC, I leave with a huge smile. Watching the young party goers hop around from the ball pit in the Indoor Playground to the Art Room where a themed craft awaits and then turn the corner with wonder into the Play & Pretend room never seems to get old!

We had a great group in today celebrating a 4th Birthday.  As always, the popcorn was popped fresh and the homemade custom cupcake tier set the scene for a fun afternoon. Here are some pictures from today’s bash! Enjoy!
